Last Christmas, I blogged about putting together a collection of 36 Kindergarten lessons to use for those unexpected times when you are sick and don’t have the energy to type of lesson plans for a substitute. (Read more about that here.) I am SO thankful for all the feedback, support, and interest that everyone has given me since then!
I wanted to be able to get the 1st grade version out to everyone a lot sooner, but with all the changes to my schedule this past year, it just didn’t happen. However, I do have some great news! I am happy to announce that the 1st grade Yearly Lesson Plans is finally finished and up and running in my store!
Just like the Kinder plans, there are 36 separate lessons that cover a variety of skills/topics to take you through the school year such as:
The activities correspond to either a Fiction or Non-Fiction book (sometimes the lesson includes both types) that you most likely have in your class or library already. If not, the books can easily be purchased on Amazon.com. At the beginning of the packet, I included an outline that shows the order of lessons and the books that are used for planning purposes.
Just like the Kinder plans, each lesson page shows the week number, the skill/concept, and the book’s title and author at the top. Then there are 3 main sections including step-by-step directions, additional activities that can be used, and possible technology extensions. Here’s a sample of what the 1st grade plans look like:
I put a copy of each lesson page in a 3-ring sheet protector, and placed them in a 1 1/2-inch binder. Since I am planning on storing these activities in binders, I went ahead and created 2 different binder covers and spine inserts for 1-inch, 1 1/2-inch, and 2-inch binders. I have created these binder covers and spines for the Kindergarten set as well. If you have already purchased those lesson plans, just re-download them and you will be able to get the binder covers and spine labels for them as well. I’ve also updated all videos in the Kinder and 1st grade lesson plans to play through SafeShare.
If you would like the entire collection of 36 lessons, you can
I’m super excited about these plans, and I have gotten SO many new ideas while working on them! As soon as I finish them, I’ll post them on my blog to share! In case you’re wondering, I’ve already started the 2nd grade lesson plans, and hope to have that finished soon too. I’d love to hear what you think? Sandy
YEAH!!! I love these. They are by far the best plans around. I've purchased others (not going to say any names) and have been very disappointed. I loved your kindergarten plans and I'm sure I'll love these as well. Keep up the awesome work and I'm looking forward to 2nd grade 🙂
I've purchased both your kindergarten and first grade lessons. I'm super excited about using them with my kindergarteners and first graders this year. Am looking forward to seeing your second grade lessons. Thank you for all you do!
