Over a year ago, I decided to revise my Literacy Lesson Plans and try to find a way to avoid having problems with broken links. Sadly it took a lot longer than I expected (life events and jobs kept getting in the way) but I’m happy to announce that the Updated Kinder Lesson Plans are finally here!
Here’s what I did! 🙂
First I looked closely at each Weekly Lesson Plan. If there was a link to an activity within the actual lesson plan section, I deleted it and created my own activity that you could download, print, and use immediately. I also created any necessary anchor charts or posters to correspond to each lesson. Now, everything you need is right at your fingerprints!
Here’s an example: In Week #5, the main lesson is to teach the parts of a book. I included a “labeled paper book” for kids to color and take home so that they can go over the new vocabulary words with their parents.
Here’s another example:
All but three of the 36 Weekly Lessons have extra printable activities. As a result, the file is 112 pages long. When you print, you may have to do a few pages at a time. I know even my laser printer gets overloaded and can’t do everything at once. I had fun making these extra activities, and I hope you find them useful!
Next, I deleted all the Google shortened links in the “Additional Activities” and “Technology Ideas” and replaced them with direct links instead. I had heard that Google going to be shutting down it’s google shortener, so I thought I’d stay ahead of it and change things now in case previous links stop working. Plus, there were always problems with links changing, moving, or disappearing that was hard to keep up with. This way, if something happens and the link no longer works, you would have the direct website to go to to see if they just moved it. As always, you can send me a message and let me know if there’s a problem and I will do all I can to fix it.
Now that I’ve figured out how I want to revise the Literacy Lesson Plans, I have started working on updating the plans for 1st grade. Then I’l move on to 2nd and 3rd grade as well. Right now, you can find all of the original lesson plans here on my website! Once I’ve made the updates, I’ll also add them back into my TpT store as well. The good news is that if you have already purchased these lesson plans for $30.00, you will get the updates for free! Once the updates are completed, the price will go up to $45.00, which is still a great deal at $1.25 per lesson!
I hope you continue to find these lesson plans helpful! And as always, if you have any suggestions I’d love to hear what you think!
PS: Here’s the link to the updated Kinder Literacy Lesson Plans , 1st Grade Literacy Lesson Plans , 2nd grade Literacy Lessons , and 3rd grade Literacy Lessons on TpT. 🙂

Thanks for getting back to me. I bought the K-2 bundle and the kinder update is not on there. Please let me know what I need to do. Thanks for your help!
Hi Debbie. I’ve sent you an email with the attachments. You’ll be able to access them once I finish updating the 2nd grade plans…then I can update the bundles too.
🙂 Sandy
Hi Sandy,
How long are your library classes? Curious how much time each lesson is designed to take up. Thank you, Deborah
Deborah, I’m part of the Special’s rotation, so our classes are 50 minutes each. The teachers drop them off, and then pick them back up when their conference time is over. I usually start by having students checkin and out new books, and then sit and read quietly or work on a few quiet stations (decorate a bookmark, learn to draw, etc.) until everyone is checked out. Then after about 10-15 minutes we begin so normally my main lessons last about 30 minutes, give or take. I can do them shorter, but I’m a talker so they tend to run long! LOL Hope this helps!
Thank you so much for updating these! Yeah! Will you be doing a 4th grade lesson plan?
Hi Shelby, Right now I’m focusing on finishing a couple of other projects before school starts, but 4th grade is on my list to do at some point. 🙂 Enjoy the rest of your summer! 🙂
Sandy
Hi Sandy,
Last year I purchased your kindergarten plans- twice. Somehow or another at the time of my first purchase I had not established a login (maybe I did the purchase through my phone) and your website did not allow me to download. Since I was in a blind panic about needing something, anything more successful than what I had been doing with my kinders, I tried establishing a log in and ordered again using my laptop- success!
I could not, at the time, find a feedback link and was unable to contact you regarding a credit or refund for the double purchase. As I begin to plan for the upcoming year, I would love to purchase the rest of your plans and am wondering if it might be possible to get a credit toward another grade level’s plan due to last year’s mix up.
Thank you-
Tina Larson
Hi Tina,
I went into the records and was able to see the double purchase for the Kinder plans, but since it was done on the last fiscal year, I am not able to issue a refund. I will send you an email with information on what we can do when I get back home tonight. 🙂
