Activities for Spring Break

Many families are going on Spring Break, which could very well be extended due to the Coronavirus.  While this can be a scary and uncertain time, it’s important to try and make kids feel safe and provide opportunities for fun and learning while they are home.  Check out these wonderful Spring Break activities that kids can explore while they are away from school or practicing social distancing. Art4Kids: Fabulous website with tons of drawing activities.  It’s a great tool to use after reading a story to get kids talking about what happened, what could happen next, etc.

Hour of Code:  Kids can learn how to code in a variety of online games.

Scholastic Learn at Home : Day by Day projects using both fiction and non-fiction paired books to create a fun and engaging learning experience!

Online Museums:  Check out these 12 famous museums that offer virtual tours you can take on your couch!

Home Base by Scholastic: Explore your favorite characters from your favorite books in this engaging book island game.

PBS Kids: Kids can watch videos, play games, and practice skills.

Starfall Education: Kids can practice their phonics and reading skills.

Highlights Kids: Kids can read, play games, and do some really fun science experiments.

Cube Creator:  Kids can use the links to create a Bio Cube, Mystery Cube, Story Cube, or their own cube creation.

Facebook Live with Ben Clanton:  Join the author of the fabulous Narwhal and Jelly series as he shows you how to draw while he talks about waffles and mermicorns on two Facebook Lives!

March 18th at 11 am PST

March 20th at 2 pm PST

Facebook Live with Oliver Jeffers:  Starting on Monday (3/16/20) at 6pm GMT / 2pm EST / 11am PST
he will be reading one of his books every weekday, and talking about some of the things that went into making it.

Instagram Live with Mac Barnett: Starting on Sunday (3/15/20)  at 12pm PST he will be reading one of his books every day at noon.

Jarrett J. Krosoczka:  Starting Monday (3/16/20) and on every weekday at 2pm ET for at least the next few weeks, he will host free webcasts for you and your kiddos.  If you can’t watch live, each art lesson will be archived. Get your kids creating, drawing, using their imagination.

Mo Willems: Visit his studio weekdays at 1 pm EST for LUNCH DOODLES with Mo Willems!
