In my last blog, I talked about ways that I was focusing on Working Smarter, Not Harder (see link here).  This time, I want to tell you about a fabulous document that I came across that I think will save you SO MUCH TIME!  If you’re like me, you probably have what seems like hundreds of tabs open for all the links you need throughout they day.  I was ecstatic when I learned about creating folders on my bookmark bar, so I didn’t have to have so many tabs open, but now even that’s getting overwhelming.   I definitely needed a way to Work Smarter, Not Harder with this!

Toward the end of last year, I came across this blog by a former principal, Stephanie Mcconnell, who was tired of all the tabs she had to keep open as well.  She ended up creating this LIFE SAVING document that will definitely falls in the category of Working Smarter, Not Harder.  

Google Dashboard: What is it?

Ms. Mcconnell used Google Sheets to create a “one place shopping” for all the links she needed on a day to day basis.  She grouped her links into different categories, and then created category headings.  She describes this here in her blog post.    Here’s what her’s looked like.

I thought this was a genius idea, so I decided to piggyback on her idea and create one for the millions of things I need to keep up with as a librarian.  Here’s a quick look:

So now, on my bookmark bar, I have one main link that launches as soon as my computer turns on. From this document, I can get to pretty much everything I need during the day.  It has truly helped save me tons of time, and allowed me to continue my goal of “Working Smarter, Not Harder”! 🙂
